A new tide for Dana Point Harbor
Dana Point Harbor is undergoing a transformation that reimagines its waterfront as a vibrant coastal destination. The revitalization plan includes new hotels, rebuilt docks, and a refreshed commercial core that will bring new life to the marinas and surrounding community. Visitors and locals will discover a place that celebrates both recreation and relaxation, with boutique shopping, dining, and cultural experiences set against the natural beauty of the harbor. Known as the Dolphin and Whale Capital of the World, Dana Point continues to invite moments of wonder, from whale watching along the coastline to sunsets over the Pacific.
To guide this evolution, RSM Design has created a comprehensive wayfinding and signage system that elevates the visitor experience while strengthening the harbor’s identity. The design includes site signage, placemaking elements, parking garage wayfinding, and a system for the commercial core that enhances pedestrian flow and connectivity across public spaces. Inspired by the rich history and legacy of Dana Point Harbor, the visual language balances coastal charm with a modern sensibility. More than a tool for navigation, the system weaves together movement, culture, and community, helping position the harbor as a true lifestyle destination.
